Since the department was established in January 2021,it has always endeavored to establish courses which are on high demand in the market.The courses offered in the department are market driven and it has grown and expanded in terms of enrollment of trainees since it’s inception.
The current trainee population in the department is 103 and boasts of a competent team of trainers drawn from across the Nation, ready to impart knowledge, skills and right attitude to our learner’s.
The department has a functional workshop furnished with tools and equipments for learning.
COURSES OFFERED
1.Diploma in electrical engineering power option
2.Certificate in electrical engineering power option
3.Artisan in electrical installation
4.Electrical engineering Technician level 6
5.Electrical engineering Technician level 5
6.Electrical installation level 4.
The Artisan program is a skill intensive course and trainees are highly competent in practical applications.
The certificate program includes both theory and practical training,trainees are capable of interpreting drawings and simple formulas related to the are of specialization.
Diploma programs are largely theoretical but with substantial element of practical in key areas,trainees are capable of carrying out tests, measurements and analysis of data related to the area of training.Skills and competencies acquired by learner’s at this level enable them to be supervisors and technicians both on construction companies and in the industry where they can;; –
-execute duties of technicians
-use trouble shooting techniques to solve electrical and electronics problems
-operate electrical generators,motors and power distribution systems.
MODE OF DELIVERY
Mode of delivery is structured coursework, workshop and laboratory practical sessions laced with industrial attachments all aimed at enabling the trainees to acquire knowledge, competencies and experience so as to work in confidence and become self reliant.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1.Diploma -minimum qualification is KCSE C-minus and above or pass in relevant craft course.
Duration of 3years modular program.
2.Certificate-minimum qualification is meangrade Dplain and above in KCSE or pass in relevant Artisan course.
3.Artisan-minimum qualification is mean grade C-minus and above in KCSE.
